Hi, anybody have any tips on how to avoid my DD feeling under pressure when doing her SATS, the school have alreday started doing practice tests and have sent home workbooks and revision guides. I will be able to hopefully play it down at home but the school seem to go over the top a bit making it really difficult to make it a big deal. Wish they didn't have to do them at all.

I am not enirely sure, however if it was me I would allow plenty of time to complete the work. Making sure that she can continue doing the things she enjoys and introduce small rewards for when she has completed work well. Try and make it fun if possible. My DD is doing KS1 this May the school hasn't gone too mad yet!

My daughter is practising for her sats now and there is lots of pressure, they are even doing extra booster sessions before school in the morning which somehow does give the children the wrong message. I really think schools should just not mention sats till the day before they do them, or BAN them altogether! :x

Hi, my DD is going through her SATs right now and whilst she is a little worried, the class teacher has been absolutely fantastic. She is keeping them all going with sweet drinks and "brain food". She has gone to the trouble of making crispy cakes, flapjacks and setting up a treat box for when they finish the exams. Also, the whole school will chill out after the SAT's and do some really fun things in line with the curriculum. A little school trip has already been planned for Monday next week.

My daughter is actually looking forward to going into school to see what treat she will be offered next!

It would be great if all teachers were that thoughtful.

PS I have also promised a special treat when it is all over. So giving them something to look forward to after the event may help?

Yes its great EBEE when the teachers are like that, it makes a real difference to the pressure on the children, my daughter is doing hers too this week, should all be over now, it was the last maths one today :D . Our school have been doing an art week at the same time, so as soon as the tests are over for the day they spend the rest of the day painting and doing craft stuff, plus yes there are sweets involved ;) We shall go out and do something fun this weekend, as our DD has worked so hard :D
